Chichester Mid-Term Activities: Family Fun Day on the Canal

Family activities will be offered at the Heritage Center from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, May 30.

Children are invited to participate in manual and manual activities: making a flower mask, discovering wild flowers, creating a flower frieze, decorating a pebble and planting seeds.

There is no charge for activities, although donations to the Trust are welcome and no reservations are required. Parents and guardians are asked to stay with their children at all times.

The family-friendly waterfront cafe will be open all day, and the popular canal boat tours will also run mid-term – advance booking is recommended.

Community Team Lead Volunteer Celia Javan said; “We want to find different ways to introduce more families to the canal.

“In February, over 150 people participated in our Family Fun Day, and we look forward to welcoming more families this month.”

The channel recently celebrated its 200th anniversary with a spectacular celebratory event. Chichester residents gathered at the basin to celebrate the opening of the canal and enjoyed a day of entertainment including morris dancing, sea shanties and gunfire demonstrations.

The day of celebration ended with a floating procession – a flotilla, including all the voyage boats, tugboats, paddleboarders, kayakers, rowboats and an inflatable flamingo.
