On October 16th Sea Tow Old Saybrook overheard a distress call from the M/V J.J. Callis stating there was a powerboat on the jetty in Old Saybrook.  Sea Tow Captain Eric Dussault and Captain Tyler Bates were on scene in just three minutes.  They proceeded to rescue four very wet and scared passengers along with their dog from the jetty and transported them to an ambulance waiting at the Dock and Dine.  Several attempts were made to snatch the vessel from the jetty, unfortunately the vessel sank.

Earlier this month Sea Tow Central CT installed an automated radio check system at Harbor One Marina at the mouth of the Connecticut River.

Boaters from Chester to Clinton should be able to hit the tower with a 25 watt radio and an 8 foot antenna.  Simply tune your VHF radio to Channel 24, key the mike and ask for a radio check as I have done in this video.  The system will play back your message letting you know how well your radio is working.  We also have systems in Greenport on channel 28 and Mystic on channel 27

This boat was obviously not in good shape when we arrived on scene.  Fortunately we were able to get it before it capsized.

Strong southwest winds causes several moored boats this past week to drag their moorings.  Unfortunately this Sea Doo was a victim.  The entire bottom of the boat was missing as well as a good portion of the port stern quarter.

On Tuesday June 29th Sea Tow was invited to the christening of the vessel Prudence at The State of Connecticut D.E.P Offices in Old Lyme Connecticut.  The vessel Prudence will be used to promote boating safety throughout the waters of Connecticut.

Sea Tow has provided the Prudence with lifejackets through our boating safety foundation.    They will be loaned to boaters with improper fitting lifejackets or if the boater does not have enough lifejackets onboard during their voyage.
